We get this question a lot: “So… what is DoubleZero, exactly?” 🤔 It’s not another blockchain, and it’s not built on one either. Here’s the TL;DR:
DoubleZero is not: – a new L1 or L2 – a blockchain itself – built on a blockchain – exclusive for any one chain – another rollup, bridge, or scaling solution – a weekend project or an experimental POC
DoubleZero is: – base layer infrastructure for blockchains – a faster, purpose-built alternative to the public internet – a new internet designed for distributed systems – open, decentralized, and permissionless – built to accelerate communication on any blockchain – a physical network: real fiber, real hardware, real performance – one of the most ambitious things being built in crypto today
Here’s one way to think about it: Blockchains today are like race cars stuck in traffic. They’re fast by design, but the roads they drive on (the public internet) weren’t built for speed. DoubleZero is building the express lane to move data faster, without latency or jitter.
Our testnet for Solana validator operators has been live for a few months, preparing us for what’s right around the corner: DoubleZero mainnet-beta. Follow along as we continue to build the new internet for high-performance distributed systems: @doublezero
