Etherscan has massive network effects which they use to double charge both API users and chains to their credit, it is freely maintained for ethereum but L2s have to pay 6 figures a year and users querying them with an API also need to pay The solution? the unified verification plugin at Remix (with hardhat and foundry upcoming) let you run once and verify everywhere so it would show up on etherscan, sourcify, blockscout, etc without the smart contract deployer manually integrating each similarly the @open_labels by @growthepie_eth gathers labels from different sources so we don't need to rely on a closed database
